Support Groups

A variety of groups are available to help individuals and their loved ones find the support needed to manage their unique health needs. New members are always welcome. Check our online calendar for upcoming meeting dates.

Alzheimer's Support Group - open to families and caregivers who need support in caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. Staff from the Barren River Adult Day Care Center facilitate the group. Support groups are held at The Medical Center Health & Wellness Center, The Medical Center at Franklin and The Medical Center at Scottsville.

Cancer Support Group - This group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month in The Medical Center Cancer Treatment Center lobby from 5 to 6 p.m. Cancer patients, family members, and caregivers are welcome to attend. For more information, call (270) 781-7178.

Diabetes Support Group - open to persons with diabetes and their family members who want to learn about how to manage diabetes. The certified diabetes educator from the Diabetes Education Program facilitates the group.

Interstitial Cystitis Support Group - offers support and education to individuals who have interstitial cystitis and their family members.

Mended Hearts - for individuals who have heart disease and/or who have had a heart procedure. This group is an excellent resource for patients of The Heart Institute at The Medical Center or patients of Healthy Hearts Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. This groups meets at The Medical Center Auditorium. For more information, call (270) 796-6512.

Stroke Support Group - offers support and education to individuals who have had a stroke and their family. This group is a component of The Medical Center's Primary Stroke Center. For more information, contact The Medical Center Health & Wellness Center at (270) 745-0942.

Surgical Weight Loss Support Group (formerly Gastric Bypass Support Group) - offers education and support to patients who have undergone or will undergo a surgical weight loss procedure. The seminar is held at The Medical Center at Bowling Green in the auditorium.
